What is your name and where do you work?
Fiona and I mostly work from my dining room table unless I’m in The Kiln
How long have you been a member of The Kiln?
6 months but really I wish I’d joined much sooner.
What drew you to The Kiln and made you want to become a member?
Curiosity and a great deal of determination from Alex to get me in and signed up. The push was moving house and needing the extra space to work because working from home doesn’t always work. Especially when there’s a pandemic happening. But I completely appreciate the benefit of having a different view.
How would people describe you best?
I’d imagine it’s chatty and cheerful. With daft coloured hair and a lot of eyeliner.
What is your favourite thing about working at The Kiln?
Firstly, there’s seeing Alex when you walk in. And then there’s the other folks who are working there. The more you go, the more you get to recognise and meet some of the other brilliant and interesting businesses in Worcester. It’s got great wifi, everyone is friendly, and there’s plenty of tea and coffee. I do like that it’s in town as well. Plus, when I have Zoom calls, my clients all think I have fancy pants offices.
How would you describe The Kiln in 10 words?
A great place to get work done and meet folks.
What is the best thing about running your own business?
I want to say that I can take time off when I want and hang out with my kids. And that’s why I run my own business. But ultimately, the best thing is knowing that you’ve built something up from nothing and are making a living from doing what you enjoy.
Where is your favourite place to grab mid-work lunch?
I love stopping by Be The Change, although their cakes and cookies are way too tempting. I’m also looking forward to Bento Box returning to Angel Place because they do the best plant-based sushi.
What is your go-to drink whilst you’re at work?
A strong cup of Yorkshire Tea if I’m at home. Coffee if I’m out and about.
What would you say to anyone who is unsure whether The Kiln is for them?
Don’t make the same mistake I did and procrastinate about joining. It’s really friendly, you’ll get more work done in there, and there is loads of tea and coffee. It’s not your normal grey, boring office either. Plus, you don’t need to fight your way past the breakfast pots, messy table, trip up over clothes and shoes or feel compelled to put a load of washing on before you start work.
